I really REALLY enjoyed this book. This is by far one of the best books I've read all year. This is amazing.
It is set in 1962 in Jackson, Mississippi. One of the things that makes this book unique, is that it is from the point of view of three different characters. Minny who is a maid for Miss Celia. Aibileen who is a maid for Miss Leefolt (also known as Elizabeth). And Skeeter who is a white woman who is friends with Hilly.
When I read this I felt like I was in 1962. One thing I loved was the way the author wrote when she was writing as the maids. I could hear them talking and telling their stories. This book was absolutely amazing and is a definite must read.
You have to get this book!

Miss Skeeter - The Help
I am so excited! This is wonderful! Miss Stein called, she's from the Harper & Row publishing, and she wants to publish my book! I just called Aibileen to tell her, but she and Minny are a little concerned that their identities will get out.
That is why the chapter about Hilly is in there... She is what we call our "insurance". In the last chapter Minny told us a little secret about Hilly. This way Hilly will be sure to convince everyone that this isn't about Jackson, and all the maids in the book will hopefully be able to keep their jobs.
I have to go over to see Aibileen now. Bye!

Johnny (Miss Celia's husband) - The Help
My wife is crazy. I mean that. Guess what she did now? She hired a maid. Apparently this maid has worked here for about 3 months. This whole time I was wondering how Celia had managed to actually cook and clean. I should've known.
I came home from work early thinking how happy Celia would be to see me. When I walked Celia wasn't there, but a woman dressed in a maids uniform was. She looked terrified of me. She started backing towards the door. I reassured her I wasn't gonna hurt her.
I pulled up a chair and just talked to her. She said her name is Minny. I told her to not tell Celia that I knew, because I wanted Celia to tell me on her own. I wonder how long it will take before Celia will tell me.

Miss Hilly- The Help
I am absolutely furious with Skeeter. I know she printed that article on purpose! Let me explain to you why I am so angry with that girl.
I asked her to print an article in the newsletter, about why everyone should have separate restrooms for the help, which she was very resentful to print. Well she finally printed that article thank goodness, but that's not why I'm so angry at her.
I also asked her to put in the newsletter for everyone to drop coats off at my house for the PSCA (Poor Starving Children of Africa). She told them to drop something off at my house. But it wasn't coats she asked them to drop off. She asked them to drop off toilets at my house... TOILETS!
There were about 17 toilets in my front yard this morning! Even worse was the newspaper came by and took photos. I feel sick just typing this, it was front page on the newspaper. Guess what the headline was? I can't bring myself to write it just look at the newspaper.
I'm done now, but I can guarantee you Skeeter is never EVER coming back to bridge club meeting.

Minny Jackson-The Help
You would not believe what happened at Miss Celia's house today. For once that woman finally got out of bed and went to run some errands. I was minding my own business cleaning the house when I heard the front door click open. Now I knew Miss Celia wasn't gonna be home for a while and I just knew Mister Johnny was here.
He saw me and started walking towards me. I thought he was gonna kill me the way Miss Celia was always talking about him. I was prepared to bolt out of that house as fast as I could. I guess he could see the fear on my face because he said to me that he wasn't gonna hurt me.
He told me he didn't know why the house suddenly got cleaner at first, but when Miss Celia's cooking got better he caught on real fast that she had hired a maid. We agreed not to tell Miss Celia that he knew.
Today was such a long day. I wonder why that crazy Miss Celia said that Mister Johnny was mean?

What this blog is for
Hi! For this project you won't get to see many posts from just me. This is my seventh grade "scrapbook project" so I hope you enjoy all the interesting things you read here. Just a heads up the next couple of posts are going to be blog entries from characters of the book The Help by Katherine Stockett. That's all!
